Real Estate Market Update from August

Welcome September…

The kids are back at school and most of us are getting back into a new routine of drop offs and pick-ups…but all good fun.  So how is the Real Estate Market holding up? Let’s check it out!

As I look at sales this year compared to last year in Santa Barbara we are seeing less homes coming on the market, down 5.1% this year compared to last year.  The median list price is up 7.5% to $1,495,000 and the median sales price is also up 6.5% to $1,253,000.  We have had 786 single family homes sell through  August, which is a little ahead of last year’s 741.  There is still a lot of buyer competition for homes that are well priced in good neighborhoods.  The old saying of location, location, location is as important as ever.

Check out the new listing I have coming on the market at www.1726GrandAveSantaBarbara.com great  location, school, views, charm, and so much more!

If you are thinking about making a move or just interested in taking the first step, please give me a call or email me and I’ll be happy to help you.

Enjoy these long warm days!

Free Week of Classes

Santa Barbara has an incredible and involved community. It’s one of the reasons I feel in love with this county!  The community finds way to educated, celebrate, and bring the whole family to an outing. Every year Parks & Recreation offers a week of free classes! These classes vary from different activities and age groups, but are focused around trying a new form of exercise.  Santa Barbara county has a numerous amount of studios and fitness classes to chose from, so it’s such a great opportunity to have  a week to try out different classes and meet with different instructors. Why Charity Matters

A community is only as strong as its members, and Santa Barbara has an amazing, strong community.  I am proud to be a part of that, as well as a small group of Real Estate agents that are involved in making a local difference, by supporting a variety of different charities each month.

As a team no matter what real estate company we work for, we come together to make a difference and donate to charities that we personally are involved in or feel strongly about. By having a strong community we all benefit. This month I had the opportunity of picking a charity of my choice.  I chose the Women’s Breast Cancer foundation.  Unfortunately breast cancer has effective every family in some way or another, and I know these funds will be put to good use.

It’s easy to get involved and make a difference whether that’s by lending a helping hand, donating, or sharing awareness for the cause.  Thank you to the Real Estate Agents who are a part of supporting local charities with me.

Viva La Fiesta!

What a wonderful time to learn about the rich culture that makes Santa Barbara such a special place.  In the real estate world, I see a lot of beautiful Spanish style homes, and how this style has changed overtime.

“Old Spanish Days” is a Fiesta celebration that’s been going on for 93 years here in Santa Barbara.  “It’s expected to attract more than 100,000 people this year, making it one of the biggest to date”, reported by the Old Spanish Days Fiesta Board of Directors.

The celebration with be from August 2nd -6th with the traditional parade at Noon on Friday, August 4th. The parade is known for its rich historical dancing and over 600 horses that is feature in the streets of downtown Santa Barbara.

It’s a wonderful time to spend outdoors with family and friends. For more information visit www.sbfiesta.org  or for a calendar of events.

Feel Good Friday

I just had to share a little bit of this great note I just got from a client.  They are a young family moving from the East Coast to Santa Barbara, their note just made my week!

Thanks a lot for leaving the keys at our place on Monday on such a short notice. Also thanks for everything else you have done for us. Our main concern about moving to Santa Barbara was housing and your optimism and positive outlook was certainly a big influence on us, especially when compared to other agents we have dealt with and when we changed our mind at the last minute. In the end the results could have not been better and the new place looks great!  We couldn’t have done it without you”

Welcome to Santa Barbara. You are going to LOVE it here!
